I’ve learned and have often said to those I’ve taught:

“If your why doesn’t make you cry, it’s not strong enough.”

And for pete’s sake it’s so true.

What does this even have anything to do with content marketing?

Honestly, quite a lot.

In fact… it’s an essential ingredient to your content marketing and content marketing strategy.

Having a “WHY” will fuel you, your business and your content.

How Do I Find My Why?

At the end of the last post on “How To Create Originality and Authenticity“, I talk about knowing your why and refer to my friend and mentor Di Downie’s blog.

The stinking truth is that your why is deep within you and finding that why is essential.

Here’s the twist…

In this case, when you’re building content for your marketing, your why is within the context of the content you are looking to create for your brand and/or your business.

Confused?

That’s ok, because we’ll take it one step at a time.

Let’s continue below…

How the heck can you use your “WHY” to fuel you?

Go through the exercise below by answering each question below:

1.) Why is important for you to create content for your customer?

Go on… pull out a piece of paper and answer why it’s important for you to create content for your audience.

2.) Why does that matter to your customer?

Write down that question and answer that as well.

3.) Why does that answer in #2 matter to your customer?

Ok.. next one.

4.) Why does the answer in #3 matter to your customer?

and last.. and possibly not least..

5.) Why does the answer in #4 matter to your customer?

Hah… get the idea?

The deeper you go, the more you uncover.

The more you uncover the closer you get to your core.

This is what will help create that driving force to create a deeper story/stories in your content for your audience.

We’ve started and scrapped our blogs several times for various reasons.

I knew there was something missing.

Just recently, as you’ve noticed… I’ve started releasing content.

It took at least a year (maybe even more) for me to get back to this blog to write something for you.

I knew that I didn’t want to release just anything. Not that my content before was just anything.

Essentially, I’m still giving you tips and information on social media, traffic, content, tools etc.

The only difference is that now I have a real drive to help you get results because I know how hard it is.

I want to help you create content that will help solve your customer’s problems and in turn create more sales for you without your customer feeling like they’re being sold to.

This matters because you can keep running and growing your business with revenue coming in.

That matters because then you can focus on what you love doing.

If you love what you’re doing you’re happier.

If you’re happier things are in flow. Your overall well being is affected, not just in business, but in life.

PHEW…

Notice what I did there?

Well… did you?

I just went through the same exact exercise with you as an example…

Now… your turn if you haven’t already… go grab your paper, go back up to the exercise and get to it!
